Rest when they do
I spoke with a mother this week (not from a Rogan family) about sleeping habits of her 16 month old daughter.
We can cope with anything when we all get enough sleep!
The conversation went on for some minutes when I thought to ask if she was walking yet. It turns out not yet.
The fun of finding your feet and discovering you can stand and walk is one of the great discoveries for little ones – and I’m sure we have all the footage to prove it.
There’s no doubt that once those little legs start waddling around, sleep follows much more naturally. And as children grow we know that exercise and sport is the key to great health, great sleep and great fun.
I then asked if by chance the little one was a bottom shuffler. Yes again.
Our first daughter was a bottom shuffler – till 22 months. Yes, most of the family thought she would never walk and we were inexperienced and didn’t worry about what she should or should not be doing. Well she did walk, in her own good time.
Some take longer to walk, some take longer to sleep through at night. It will all happen in her or his own good time.
The only advice I have for parents of babes who are poor sleepers is make sure you rest when they are!
