None of us needs to buy tattslotto tickets

Every parent knows that the nightly TV news is really not suitable for children. We go to great lengths to make sure little eyes are shielded from some of the daily atrocities.

Hell, it’s scarcely tolerable for adults! I often find myself feeling down about the terrible things that occur in the world. A number of them we saw this week.

But one of the most wonderful stories was surely the release of Peter Greste.  Wonderful footage of him on the beach enjoying freedom, arriving back in Australia and a terrific interview by Leigh Sales just now on ABC TV.

Greatest of all though, for me, was the look, smile, supreme joy on the face of his parents. How does one quantify that?

And fortunately all parents understand this, in both little and big ways. The happiness of our children is inextricably linked to our happiness. That’s just the way it is. There are many priceless moments, from the first smile, the paintings on the fridge, the mighty efforts at school sports, and so it goes on.

What I’ve learnt is that it never stops.

Our 3 children are in their 20s now and leading their own lives, and we as parents still get a buzz out of everything they do. While we miss the wonderful baby stages, there are equally as many wonderful times as they grow, and become adults.

So as parents, we don’t need to buy tattslotto tickets. We’ve won already.

Tell me about a one of those great moments that you have had.

Regards

Julie Morrison
